The Schwarzwald-Baar-Heuberg region is located in the south-western part of Germany. The region has a longstanding tradition in the manufacturing and construction industries and strong competencies in microtechnology (e.g., clockmaking, automotive suppliers or medical technology). Climate change, rising raw material and energy prices, growing uncertainties on global markets, rural depopulation and other changing circumstances, pose substantial transformation challenges for the region.
